In our earlier post we made you familiar with blog comment spam and also told you about its drawbacks. By now we all know how harmfuln blog comment spam can be for your blog. Now, let’s take a look at some of the tools that help reduce blog comment spam.

1. Antispam Bee:

Antispam Bee is a highly efficacious tool for reducing blog comment spam. It blocks spam comments and trackbacks effectively and without captchas. It is free of charge and ad-free. It also takes care of IP blacklisting (comment blocking), trackback validation, database optimization, and more. Moreover, it shows you detailed monthly stats and spam activities in your admin dashboard and lets you ‘create’ your own spam detection algorithm by selecting certain indicators based on your knowledge of your user base.

2. Akismet:

Akismet is yet another blog comment spamming tool that acts as a spam filter. It filters spam from comments, trackbacks, and contact form messages. Akismet works by combining information about spam captured on all participating sites, and then using those spam rules to block future spam. It further lets you put your comments on Akismet server where they undergo spam checks by a specific algorithm. Thereafter, the comments that pass the inspection are published on your site’s front end, while the rest are marked spam and eventually deleted.

Comment authors must check the box to confirm they are human and not using an automated commenting system. As a result, this will cut down the amount of automated spam significantly to your blog.

4. Cleantalk:

CleanTalk is a blog comment spamming tool that prevents comment spam, registration/ sign up form spam, and trackback spam. It uses smart algorithms to detect spam within ‘genuine’ looking comments. It also provides you detailed statistics and comments log, along with automatic moderation (spam detection) activity and history.
