Google is taking keen interest in the mobile usability of the site it exhibits in its search results. Google testing of ‘ not mobile-friendly’ icons is an example which is prominent for poorly optimized sites. Goggle has also been witnessed in penalizing sites that generates errors for mobile users.

There is another feature that has been launched in Google Web master Tools called ‘Mobile Usability‘. There are some errors which are quite prominent discussed in the previous blog, and we shall have a look on how to fix them.

Flash usage– This is quite common and can easily be avoided by simply ignoring ‘Flash’ on your site as much as possible. To make booth Google and your visitors happy, avoid flash based sites as they are uncertain, unstable and inconsistent.

View port not configured– By switching to a responsive design for your site you can fix this problem. More than 50% of US is on mobile traffic, so not having a mobile friendly site simply means you are loosing a heavy chunk of potential traffic.

Fixed-width view port– As simple as it can be. Just switch to responsive website design

Content not sized to view port– Pages which require horizontal scrolling to view the content receive this error message. By ensuring relative width and position values rather than fixed ones and adopting a responsive design for site can help you to overcome this error.

Small font size– First decide a view port for your page, while determining CSS, then set your font sizes to properly scale within the view port. Some best practices in terms of size are setting your base font size to 16 CSS pixels, and then adapting all your other font sizes relative to your base font.

Touch element too close– Google recommends a minimum tap target of 7 mm and a sufficient amount of space between targets should be there as the average adult finger pad size is 10mm.
