SEM stands for search engine marketing and is a type of internet marketing associated with the researching, submitting and positioning of a website within search engines to achieve maximum visibility and rank your website higher in search results.

SEM involves a number of services such as:

i) search engine optimization (SEO)

ii) keyword research

iii) competitive analysis

iv) paid listings and much more.

SEM incorporates SEO and includes both paid search results utilizing tools like Google Adwords or Bing Ads and organic search results. SEM uses paid advertising with AdWords or Bing Ads, pay per click which is particularly beneficial for local providers as it enables potential consumers to directly contact a company with a single click. It is also favorable for article submissions, advertising and making sure Search engine optimization has been done. A keyword analysis is performed for both SEO and SEM, at the same time or simultaneously. SEM and SEO both need to be observed consistently and updated frequently to reflect evolving best practices.

Sometimes, SEM is exclusively used to mean pay per click advertising, particularly in the commercial advertising and marketing communities.

Another part of SEM is SMM which stands for social media marketing and is a type of marketing that involves leveraging the power of social media to convince consumers that your company’s products or services are exceptional. Some of the latest theoretical advances include search engine marketing management. The sole purpose of the “return on investment” (ROI) metric is to measure, per period, rates of return on money invested in an economic entity in order to make a decision whether or not to undertake an investment. It is also used as an indicator to compare different project investments within a project portfolio. The project with best ROI is prioritized for best outcomes.
